Liftgate Ajar Indicator Does Not Illuminate With Liftgate Open
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect liftgate ajar switch harness connector. See Figure . Check continuity between ground and terminal No. 1 (Black wire) at liftgate ajar switch harness connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If no continuity exists, repair short to ground in Black wire between liftgate ajar switch and ground point. Ground point is located behind left rear quarter trim panel.
- Connect negative battery cable. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect a jumper wire ground and terminal No. 2 (Tan/Black wire) at liftgate ajar switch harness connector. If liftgate ajar indicator illuminates, replace liftgate ajar switch. If liftgate ajar indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Check continuity of Tan/Black wire between terminal No. 1 at instrument cluster harness connector C1 and terminal No. 2 at liftgate ajar switch harness connector. If continuity exists, replace liftgate ajar indicator bulb. If no continuity exists, repair open in Tan/Black wire between instrument cluster and liftgate ajar switch.
