Headlight High Beam Indicator Test

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving steering column, seat and instrument panel components. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. Do not apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE: If high beams are inoperative, repair high beams as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS in HEADLIGHT SYSTEMS article.
NOTE: Wire color changes from Red/Gray wire at instrument cluster to Red/Orange wire at in-line harness connector to multifunction switch. In-line connector is located on firewall, near brake pedal.

Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect negative battery cable. Turn high beams on. Check battery voltage at terminal No. 5 (Red/Gray wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C1. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open in Red/Gray wire and/or Red/Orange wire between instrument cluster and multifunction switch. If battery voltage exists, replace high beam indicator bulb.
