Test 1A: DRB Blank Screen

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect DRB from Data Link Connector (DLC). Measure resistance between ground and DLC connector terminal No. 5 (ground circuit; Black-Tan wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black-Tan wire.
  2. Measure resistance between ground and DLC connector terminal No. 4 (ground circuit; Black-Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Black-Light Blue wire.
  3. Measure voltage between ground and DLC connector terminal No. 16 (fused B+ circuit; Pink-White wire). If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Pink-White wire.
  4. Substitute an known good DRB cable. If DRB is operational, replace original DRB cable. If DRB is not operational, go to next step.
  5. Substitute an known good DRB tester. If DRB is operational, repair original DRB tester. If DRB is not operational, test is complete.
