Test 7A: Loss Of Ignition Run-Start (Active Code)

NOTE: Perform TEST VER-1A: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs. Each time a connector is disconnected, inspect it to ensure it is in good condition. Always focus on circuit being tested. Dirt, water and corrosion, are most common problems in connectors.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 9 located in fuse block under right side of instrument panel. If fuse is open (blown), go to next step. If fuse is okay, reinstall fuse and go to step  6 .
  2. Measure resistance between ground and component side of fuse No. 9 (Light Green-Yellow wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace fuse.
  3. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect ACM connector. Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 17 (Light Green-Yellow wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms and no potential causes remain, replace ACM and fuse.
  4. If vehicle is equipped with PAD switch, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with PAD switch, repair short to ground in Light Green-Yellow wire. Replace fuse.
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect PAD switch 4-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 17 (Light Green-Yellow wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Green-Yellow wire between ACM connector and fuse block. Replace fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace PAD switch and fuse.
  6. Measure voltage between ground and ignition switch side of fuse No. 9 (Dark Blue wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Dark Blue wire between fuse block and ignition switch. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect ACM harness connector. Turn ignition on, then reconnect battery. Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 17 (Light Green-Yellow wire). See Figure . If voltage is more than 10 volts and no potential causes remain, replace ACM and fuse. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Light Green-Yellow wire between ACM and fuse block.
