Test 5A: Either Squib Circuit Shorted To Ground (Active Code)

NOTE: Perform TEST VER-1A: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs. Each time a connector is disconnected, inspect it to ensure it is in good condition. Always focus on circuit being tested. Dirt, water and corrosion, are most common problems in connectors.
  1. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect ACM harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green-Light Blue wire). See Figure . Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 2 (Black-Light Blue wire). If resistance at either terminal is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance at both terminals is more than 5 ohms, go to step  3 .
  2. Disconnect driver-side air bag module. Disconnect clockspring 2-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green-Light Blue wire). Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 2 (Black-Light Blue wire). If resistance at either terminal is less than 3 ohms, repair short to ground on Dark Green-Light Blue or Black-Light Blue wire. If resistance at both terminals is more than 3 ohms, replace clockspring.
  3. Ensure PAD switch is in ON position. Disconnect passenger-side air bag module harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 5 (Brown-Yellow wire). Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 6 (Violet-Yellow wire). If resistance at either terminal is less than 3 ohms and vehicle is equipped with PAD switch, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with PAD switch, repair short to ground in appropriate wire. If resistance at both terminals is more than 3 ohms and no potential causes remain, replace ACM.
  4. Disconnect PAD switch 4-pin harness connector. Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 5 (Brown-Yellow wire). Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 6 (Violet-Yellow wire). If resistance at either terminal is less than 3 ohms, repair short to ground on Brown-Yellow or Violet-Yellow wire. If resistance at both terminals is more than 3 ohms, replace PAD switch.
