Test 4A: Either Squib Circuit Shorted To Battery (Active Code)

NOTE: Perform TEST VER-1A: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs. Each time a connector is disconnected, inspect it to ensure it is in good condition. Always focus on circuit being tested. Dirt, water and corrosion, are most common problems in connectors.
  1. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect ACM harness connector. Turn ignition on, then reconnect battery. Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green-Light Blue wire). See Figure . Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 2 (Black-Light Blue wire). If voltage at either terminal is more than one volt, go to next step. If voltage at both terminals is less than one volt, go to step  3 .
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect driver-side air bag module. Disconnect clockspring 2-pin connector. Turn ignition on, then reconnect battery. Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 1 (Dark Green-Light Blue wire). Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 2 (Black-Light Blue wire). If voltage at either terminal is more than one volt, repair short to battery on appropriate wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If voltage at both terminals is less than one volt, replace clockspring.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect passenger-side air bag module connector. Ensure PAD switch is in ON position. Turn ignition on, then reconnect battery. Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 5 (Brown-Yellow wire). See Figure . Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 6 (Violet-Yellow wire). If voltage at either terminal is more than one volt and vehicle is equipped with PAD switch, go to next step. If vehicle is not equipped with PAD switch, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire. If voltage at both terminals is less than one volt and no potential causes remain, replace ACM.
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect PAD switch 4-pin harness connector. Turn ignition on, then reconnect battery. Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 5 (Brown-Yellow wire). Measure voltage between ground and ACM connector terminal No. 6 (Violet-Yellow wire). If voltage at either terminal is more than one volt, repair short to voltage in appropriate wire. If voltage at both terminals is less than one volt, replace PAD switch.
