Test 3A: Driver Squib Circuit Shorted (Active Code)

NOTE: Perform TEST VER-1A: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST after all repairs. Each time a connector is disconnected, inspect it to ensure it is in good condition. Always focus on circuit being tested. Dirt, water and corrosion, are most common problems in connectors.

Visually inspect driver-side air bag module squib, clockspring and ACM connectors. If connectors are completely connected, go to next step. If any connector(s) was not completely connected, repair poor connection.
Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect driver-side air bag module. Disconnect clockspring 2-pin connector. Measure resistance between Black-Light Blue and Dark Green-Light Blue wires at clockspring 2-pin harness connector. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Black-Light Blue and Dark Green-Light Blue wires. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect passenger-side air bag module. Ensure PAD switch is in ON position. Measure resistance between clockspring 2-pin connector Dark Green-Light Blue wire and passenger-side air bag module harness connector Black-Yellow wire. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short between Dark Green-Light Blue and Black-Yellow wires (Black-Yellow wire becomes Brown-Yellow at PAD switch connector). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
Reconnect all components except driver-side air bag module. Turn ignition on, then reconnect battery. Using DRB, read active codes. If DRB displays DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN, replace driver-side air bag module. If DRB does not display DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN, go to next step.
Turn ignition off. Disconnect battery and wait 2 minutes before proceeding. Disconnect clockspring 2-pin connector. Turn ignition on, then reconnect battery. Using DRB, read active codes. If DRB displays DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN, replace clockspring. If DRB does not display DRIVER SQUIB CIRCUIT OPEN and no potential causes remain, replace ACM.
