Test 1B: Repairing Stored Codes

Use this test to diagnose following stored fault code messages:

  1. Ensure battery is fully charged and active codes have been resolved. Place vehicle on hoist and raise wheels off ground. Apply parking brake. Start engine and let idle in park or neutral.
  2. Using DRB, erase stored codes, then use DRB to monitor active codes. Wiggle air bag system wiring harness and connectors. Rotate steering wheel from stop-to-stop. Visually inspect related wiring harness connectors looking for broken, bent, pushed-out, spread, corroded, or contaminated terminals. Inspect harness for chafed, pierced, pinched or partially broken wires. If code became active, go to appropriate diagnostic test. If code did not become active, erase all codes. Go to TEST VER-1A: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  .
