Automatic Belt TENSIONER

NOTE: Vehicles with 4.0L and 4.7L engines are equipped with automatic belt tensioner. DO NOT attempt to adjust belt tension.

For serpentine belt routing, see Figure -Figure . Belt tension is controlled by an automatic belt tensioner and is not adjustable. If index mark on tensioner is not within 1/8" (3 mm) of index arrow on tensioner housing, replace belt. See Fig 1 .

(1) Belt is considered used after 15 minutes of service.
(2) Automatic belt tensioner is used. Belt tension adjustment is not required.
