Test 4C: Right Front Inlet Valve
NOTE:
Perform TEST 4A
before proceeding.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) 10-pin connector and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Repair as necessary. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between HCU connector (component side) terminals No. 1 and 3. If resistance is 5-9 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 5-9 ohms, replace HCU.
- Measure resistance between HCU connector (component side) terminal No. 3 and terminals No. 2, 4, 7, 8 and 9. If resistance is 5 ohms or more between all terminals, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between any terminals, replace HCU.
- Measure resistance between HCU connector (component side) terminal No. 4 and ground. If resistance is 150 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 150 ohms, replace HCU.
- Disconnect CAB connectors. Inspect connectors for corroded, damaged or backed-out terminal pins. Repair as necessary. If connectors and terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector C2. Disconnect HCU 10-pin connector. Measure resistance between CAB connector C2, terminal No. 15 and terminals 4, 6, 8, 12 and 18. If resistance is 150 ohms or more between all terminals, go to next step. If resistance is less than 150 ohms between any terminals, repair right front inlet valve circuit (White/Dark Green wire) for short to other circuit(s).
- With HCU connector still disconnected, remove main relay. Measure resistance between CAB connector C2, terminals No. 5 and 15. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair right front inlet valve control circuit (White/Dark Green wire) for short to main relay output (reference) circuit.
- Reinstall main relay. Measure resistance between CAB connector C2, terminals No. 13 and 15. If resistance is 150 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 150 ohms, repair inlet valve control circuit (White/Dark Green wire) for short to ground circuit.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and CAB connector C2, terminal No. 15. If no voltage is present, go to next step. If any voltage is present, repair right front inlet valve circuit (White/Dark Green wire) for short to battery voltage.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect HCU harness connector. Turn ignition on. Connect a fused jumper wire between CAB connector C2, terminals No. 11 and 13 (supplies voltage to valves). Go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and CAB connector C2, terminal No. 15. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace CAB. If voltage is not as specified, repair open in right front inlet valve control circuit (White/Dark Green wire).
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read DTCs. Inspect wiring harness and connectors of HCU circuit. While an assistant observes scan tool display, wiggle harness from CAB to HCU. If any DTCs appeared, repair as necessary. If no DTCs appear, test is complete.
