Test 22A: No Response Message

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove and inspect fuse No. 7 in fuse block. If fuse is faulty, go to step  9 . If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector C1. Inspect all terminals. If any terminal is damaged, pushed out or miswired, repair as necessary.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using a voltmeter, probe fused ignition switch output circuit at CAB connector terminal No. 5. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open fused ignition switch output circuit (Violet/White wire).
  4. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector C2. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between CAB terminals No. 13, 14 and chassis ground. If resistance is below 1.0 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 1.0 ohms or more, repair open ground circuit(s).
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector C2. Turn ignition on. Turn all accessories on. Measure voltage between ground and CAB terminals No. 13 and 14. If resistance is more than 1.0 volt, repair poor ground circuit. If voltage is 1.0 volt or less, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector C1. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, probe SCI transmit/ISO 9141K circuit (Pink wire) at CAB connector terminal No. 3. If voltage is more than 4.0 volts, replace CAB. See CONTROLLER ANTI-LOCK BRAKE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If voltage is 4.0 volts or less, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector C1. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, probe SCI transmit/ISO 9141K circuit (Pink wire) at CAB connector terminal No. 3. If voltage is more than 4.0 volts, replace PCM. If voltage is 4.0 volts or less, go to next step.
  8. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector C1. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Using a test light connected to 12 volts, probe SCI transmit/ISO 9141K circuit (Pink wire) at CAB connector terminal No. 3. If test light illuminates, repair SCI transmit/ISO 9141K circuit (Pink wire) for a short to ground. If test light does not illuminate, repair open in SCI transmit/ISO 9141K circuit (Pink wire) from CAB to data link connector.
  9. Turn ignition off. Visually inspect fused ignition switch output circuit (Violet/White wire) in wiring harness from fuse block to CAB. Look for any sign of an intermittent short to ground. If wiring harness is okay, go to next step. If any problems are found, repair as necessary.
  10. Turn ignition off. Remove fuse No. 7 from fuse block. Disconnect CAB connector C1. Using a test light connected to 12 volts, probe fused ignition switch output circuit (Violet/White wire). If test light illuminates, repair fused ignition switch output circuit (Violet/White wire) for short to ground. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  11. Turn ignition off. Remove No. 7 fuse from fuse block. Using a test light connected to 12 volts, probe fused ignition switch output circuit (Violet/White wire). If test light illuminates, replace CAB. See CONTROLLER ANTI-LOCK BRAKE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  12. Turn ignition off. If there are no potential causes remaining, replace fuse No. 7. Test is complete.
