EGR Valve (Except 1.8L Federal & Canada)

  1. Remove EGR valve. Check valve for sticking and carbon deposits. Clean EGR valve to ensure tight valve seat contact. Connect a hand-held vacuum pump to EGR valve.
  2. Apply 20 in. Hg vacuum and ensure vacuum holds. Ensure air blows through EGR ports. Release vacuum and apply 1.8 in. Hg vacuum or less. Ensure air does not blow through EGR ports. Apply 8.5 in. Hg vacuum or more. Ensure air blows through EGR ports. If EGR valve does not test as described, replace EGR valve.
