Test 25A - Right Rear Sensor Circuit Failure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Eagle Vision, 1994 Dodge Intrepid, 1994 Chrysler New Yorker, 1994 Chrysler LHS, and 1994 Chrysler Concorde. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM.
- Using DRB, read and record Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) fault messages. If RIGHT REAR SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE is not set, go to TEST 26A. If RIGHT REAR SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE is set, go to next step.
- Inspect WSS for damage or contamination. If WSS is faulty, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If WSS is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB 37-pin connector. See Figure. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on. Put DRB in voltmeter mode. Using DRB, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 29 (Yellow wire). See Figure. If any voltage is present, repair short to power in Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If no voltage exists, go to next step.
- Using DRB, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 31 (Yellow/Dark Blue wire). If any voltage is present, repair short to power in Yellow/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If no voltage exists, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Using DRB, check resistance of CAB connector terminal No. 29 (Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB, check resistance of CAB connector terminal No. 31 (Yellow/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between CAB connector terminals No. 29 (Yellow wire) and No. 31 (Yellow/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is 950-1250 ohms, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is not 950-1250 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect right rear WSS connector. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between WSS male connector terminals. If resistance is not 950-1250 ohms, replace WSS. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is 950-1250 ohms, go to next step.
- Connect jumper wire between chassis ground and CAB connector terminal No. 29 (Yellow wire). Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Using DRB, measure resistance of Yellow wire at right rear WSS female connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A.
