Test 21A - Right Front Sensor Circuit Failure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Eagle Vision, 1994 Dodge Intrepid, 1994 Chrysler New Yorker, 1994 Chrysler LHS, and 1994 Chrysler Concorde. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM.
- Using DRB, read and record all Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) fault messages. If DRB does not display RIGHT FRONT SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE, go to TEST 22A. If DRB displays RIGHT FRONT SENSOR CIRCUIT FAILURE, go to next step.
- Inspect WSS for damage or contamination. If WSS is faulty, repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A. If WSS is okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB 37-pin connector. See Figure. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Turn ignition on. Put DRB in voltmeter mode. Using DRB, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 1 (White wire). See Figure. If any voltage is present, repair short to power in White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If no voltage exists, go to next step.
- Using DRB, check voltage on CAB connector terminal No. 6 (White/Dark Blue wire). If any voltage is present, repair short to power in White/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If no voltage exists, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Using DRB, check resistance of CAB connector terminal No. 1 (White wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB, check resistance of CAB connector terminal No. 6 (White/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between CAB connector terminals No. 1 (White wire) and No. 6 (White/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is 950-1250 ohms, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is not 950-1250 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect right front WSS connector. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance between WSS male connector terminals. If resistance is not 950-1250 ohms, replace WSS. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is 950-1250 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, measure resistance of White wire between CAB connector terminal No. 1 and WSS female connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair open in White/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A.
