Test 17B - Pump Motor Circuit Not Working Properly
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Eagle Vision, 1994 Dodge Intrepid, 1994 Chrysler New Yorker, 1994 Chrysler LHS, and 1994 Chrysler Concorde. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAM.
- Turn ignition off. Remove pump/motor relay fuse from PDC (cavity "F"). See Figure. Disconnect pump/motor relay connector. See Figure. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Using DRB, check resistance of Dark Blue wire at pump/motor relay connector terminal "D". If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Disconnect pump/motor connector. Inspect, clean or repair connector as necessary. Using DRB, measure resistance of one Brown/White wire at pump/motor relay connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using DRB, check resistance of other Brown/White wire at pump/motor relay connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace pump/motor assembly. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
- Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between Brown/White and Black wires at pump/motor male connector. If resistance is more than 20 ohms, replace pump/motor assembly. Perform TEST VER-1A. If resistance is less than 20 ohms, go to next step.
- Reconnect all disconnected connectors. Replace pump/motor relay fuse. Using DRB, actuate MOTOR PUMP. Inspect pump/motor relay fuse. If fuse is open, replace pump/motor assembly. Perform TEST VER-1A. If fuse is okay, system is operating properly at this time. Perform TEST VER-1A.
