Driver-Side Air Bag Module & Steering Wheel: Installation

- If replacing a deployed air bag module, replace clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING. Position steering wheel on steering column. Ensure flats on steering wheel hub fit formations on inside of clockspring.
- Pull Yellow horn wire through smaller round hole and air bag and cruise control wires through larger slot on steering wheel. Ensure wires do not get pinched under steering wheel. Install steering wheel retaining nut and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS TABLE at the end of this article.
- Rout cruise control wires under and behind air bag module mounting tabs. Connect Yellow horn wire and air bag module wire to air bag module. Install air bag module, and tighten bolts to specification. Connect cruise control wires to switches. Install switches.
- DO NOT connect negative battery cable at this time. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
