Removal & Installation: Engine: Installation

  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Align and install engine mounts. DO NOT tighten mounting bolts until all mounting brackets and bolts have been installed. Check axle shaft length with damper weight removed (if equipped). See Fig 1.

  2. Axle shaft length must be within specification. See AXLE SHAFT POSITIONING SPECIFICATIONS (AUTOMATIC)  or AXLE SHAFT POSITIONING SPECIFICATIONS (MANUAL)  tables. If axle shaft length needs adjustment, support engine/transaxle assembly using a floor jack.
  3. Loosen vertical bolts on engine mount near timing belt cover. Loosen front engine mount bracket-to-front crossmember bolts. Pry engine right or left as required to obtain correct axle shaft length.
  4. Tighten mounting bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Recheck axle shaft length. Install damper weight (if equipped) and tighten to specification. Adjust fluid levels. Fill cooling system.
