Disassembly & Inspection

Note location and direction of rocker arm components and bearing caps. Disassemble rocker arms. See Fig 1. Intake valve rocker arm shaft has a .12" (3.0 mm) oil hole in bottom of shaft. Exhaust valve rocker arm shaft does not have oil hole. Oil hole (in intake valve rocker arm shaft) feeds oil through cam bearing cap to exhaust valve rocker arm.
Inspect components for damage and replace as necessary. Ensure oil holes are not restricted. Inspect camshaft and cylinder head journal areas for damage. Inspect distributor drive gear for damage. Measure lobe height. Replace camshaft if lobe height is not within specification. See CAMSHAFT table under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS.
