Thrust Bearing

  1. Each engine combines 2 types of thrust bearings. One type uses positioning tabs; other does not. See Fig 1. One of each is installed in cylinder block at main bearing No. 3 and in main bearing cap No. 3.
  2. One thrust bearing without tab is installed at front (timing belt side) of cylinder block at bearing No. 3 and one thrust bearing with tab is installed at rear (flywheel side) of block at main bearing No. 3.
  3. Install thrust bearings in main bearing cap No. 3 in reverse order. Thrust bearing without tab is installed in bearing cap facing rear (flywheel side) of engine; thrust bearing with tab is installed at front (timing belt side) of main bearing cap assembly.
