Excessive Or No Variation In Delay

  1. Variations in delay should be as follows:
    • Minimum Delay - 1/2-2 seconds, with switch in extreme counterclockwise position before first detent.
    • Maximum Delay - 15-25 seconds, with switch in extreme clockwise position before OFF detent.
  2. If variation delay is not as specified, disconnect Black 9-pin wiper motor connector when wiper motor is parked in OFF position. Disconnect Black 25-pin body control module connector, located behind right front kick panel. Turn delay switch to maximum DELAY position. Turn ignition on and measure voltage between ground and Black 9-pin wiper motor connector terminal No. 9 (Dark Blue wire). If zero volts exists, go to next step. If 10-15 volts exists, go to step 4).
  3. Turn ignition on. Set delay switch to minimum DELAY position, and measure voltage between ground and Black 9-pin wiper motor connector terminal No. 9 (Dark Blue wire). If zero volts exists, check intermittent wiper harness for open circuit. If 10-15 volts exists, go to next step.
  4. Remove wiper fuse. Move delay switch from minimum and to maximum DELAY positions. Measure resistance between body control module terminals No. 9 (White/Black wire) and No. 22 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is 0-15 ohms in minimum DELAY position and 240,000-400,000 ohms in maximum DELAY position, replace body control module. If resistances are not as specified, replace wiper control switch.
