Test TC-35A - Loss Of Flex Fuel Calibration Signal (DTC 64)
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Plymouth Acclaim and 1994 Dodge Spirit. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
For circuit and connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION DIRECTORY TABLE
. For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS
.
- The flexible fuel sensor sends out a calibration signal for 1.5 seconds after ignition is turned on. Using DRB, read flexible fuel sensor voltage. Observe flexible fuel sensor voltage for 1.5 seconds after ignition is turned on.
- If voltage is 4.28-4.63 volts, go to step 5). If voltage is not 4.28-4.63 volts, while observing DRB, wiggle wiring harness from flexible fuel sensor to Powertrain Control Module (PCM). If voltage changed, repair wiring harness as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2 .
- If voltage did not change, condition required to set trouble code is not present at this time. The LOSS OF FLEX FUEL CALIBRATION SIGNAL trouble code sets if flexible fuel sensor calibration signal is not 4.28-4.63 volts for 1.5 seconds after ignition is turned on for 2 consecutive key-ons. Possible causes are: flexible fuel sensor failure, open flexible fuel sensor Orange wire or failed PCM. Go to next step.
- Inspect all related wiring and connectors and repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2. If no problems were found with wiring and connectors, see INACTIVE TROUBLE CODE CONDITION . Go to TEST NTC-1A.
- Disconnect flexible fuel sensor connector. Flex fuel sensor is located on front of fuel tank. Put DRB in voltmeter mode. Using DRB, check voltage on flexible fuel sensor connector Orange wire. If voltage is more than 7 volts, replace flexible fuel sensor. Perform TEST VER-2 . If voltage is less than 7 volts, repair open in Orange wire. Perform TEST VER-2.
