Lock Cylinder: Removal

- Disconnect negative battery cable. Disable air bag system (if equipped). See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT Section. On tilt column, remove tilt lever by turning counterclockwise. On all columns, remove steering column covers.
- Insert and rotate ignition key to LOCK position. Using a small screwdriver or punch, push inward on lock cylinder retaining pin in slot. See Fig 1 . Rotate ignition key to OFF position to unseat lock cylinder from ignition switch.
- Lock cylinder is unseated from ignition switch assembly when lock cylinder bezel is about 1/8" from ignition switch halo light. Rotate ignition key counterclockwise back to LOCK position and remove ignition key. Pull lock cylinder from ignition switch.
