Test 14A: Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Continuity Fault

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  1. Inspect right rear Wheel Speed Sensor (WSS) for damage. If right rear WSS is damaged, replace right rear WSS. Perform TEST VER-1A: SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST . If right rear WSS is okay, go to next step.
  2. Ensure ignition is off. On AA, AJ and AP bodies, access right rear WSS 2-pin connector by removing rear seat from vehicle and pulling carpeting back to expose connector. On AS body, access right rear WSS 2-pin connector by removing right rear trim panel. On all models, disconnect right rear WSS 2-pin connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between right rear WSS male connector terminals. If resistance is not 1000-4000 ohms, replace right rear WSS. Perform TEST VER-1A: SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is 1000-4000 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) 60-pin connector. See Figure. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Using DRB, check resistance of CAB 60-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A: SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  4. Using DRB, check resistance of CAB 60-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1A: SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  5. Connect a jumper wire between chassis ground and CAB 60-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Dark Blue wire). Using DRB, check resistance of right rear WSS female connector Yellow/Dark Blue wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow/Dark Blue wire. Perform TEST VER-1A: SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  6. Disconnect jumper wire from CAB 60-pin connector terminal No. 1. Connect a jumper wire between chassis ground and CAB 60-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire). Using DRB, check resistance of right rear WSS female connector Yellow wire. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Yellow wire. Perform TEST VER-1A: SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect jumper wire from CAB 60-pin connector terminal No. 2. Replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A: SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
