Test 10A: Pump/Motor Circuit

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Plymouth Sundance, 1994 Plymouth Acclaim, 1994 Dodge Spirit, 1994 Dodge Shadow, and 1994 Chrysler LeBaron. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS .
NOTE: If DRB displays MODULATOR CIRCUIT fault message, perform TEST 9A before proceeding.
  1. On AA and AP bodies, inspect pump/motor Gray fusible link, located near brake master cylinder. On AJ body, inspect pump/motor fuse No. 48, located in Power Distribution Center (PDC). On AS body, inspect 30-amp ABS PUMP/MOTOR fuse, located in Power Distribution Center (PDC). On all models, if fuse or fusible link is open, go to TEST 10F. If fuse or fusible link is okay, go to next step.
  2. Using DRB, actuate MOTOR PUMP. Put DRB in voltmeter mode. Using DRB, with pump motor relay connector connected, backprobe Brown/White wire at pump/motor relay connector. See Figure. If reading is continuously more than 9 volts, go to TEST 10E. If reading is not continuously more than 9 volts, go to next step.
  3. DO NOT stop MOTOR PUMP actuation. If pump/motor voltage is switching between zero and 9.5 volts, go to TEST 10B. If pump/motor voltage is not switching between zero and 9.5 volts, go to next step.
  4. Ensure MOTOR PUMP is still actuating. With pump/motor connector connected, connect a jumper wire between chassis ground and Gray wire at pump/motor relay connector. If pump motor operates, go to TEST 10C. If pump/motor does not operate, go to next step.
  5. Remove jumper wire. Disconnect pump/motor relay connector. Using DRB, check voltage on Red/Dark Green wire at pump/motor relay connector. If reading is more than 9 volts, go to TEST 15A. If reading is less than 9 volts, repair open in Red/Dark Green wire. Perform TEST VER-1A: SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .
