Intermittent Failures

Intermittent failures may cause MIL to flicker or stay on until the intermittent fault goes away. However, the corresponding trouble code will be retained in PCM memory. If fault does not reoccur within a certain time frame (before 50 ignition on/off cycles), corresponding trouble code will be erased from PCM memory.

Intermittent failures can be caused by faulty sensor, bad connection, or wiring related problems. See INTERMITTENTS in TROUBLE SHOOTING, TESTS W/O CODES article in the ENGINE PERFORMANCE Section.
