Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch: Aw4

  1. Disconnect shift linkage rod from shift lever on left side of transmission. Rotate shift lever on transmission fully rearward. Then rotate shift lever forward 2 shift positions to Neutral. Verify transmission is in Neutral position.
  2. Rotate PNP switch to align neutral standard line with vertical groove on shift lever on transmission. Tighten switch adjusting bolt to 108 INCH lbs. (13 N.m). Bend at least 2 washer lock tabs over switch attaching nut. Connect linkage and electrical connector. Check switch operation.
  3. If engine starts in shift positions other than Park and Neutral, test switch continuity. To test switch, remove harness connector. Using DVOM, check for continuity between proper terminals with transmission in indicated positions. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If continuity is not present at each circuit, replace PNP switch. Install switch and NEW seal in case.
