Master Cylinder: Installation

- Bench bleed master cylinder. See BENCH BLEEDING MASTER CYLINDER under BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Bleed hydraulic brake system. See BLEEDING BRAKE SYSTEM .
- Check master cylinder compensating ports. Remove master cylinder cover and observe brake fluid. Have an assistant press brake pedal. A small squirt or swirling fluid should appear in one or both reservoirs. If no squirting or swirling fluid appears, push rod may be improperly adjusted.
- On manual brakes, adjust push rod at brake pedal. Push rod should have slight amount of play when brake pedal is released.
