LeBaron With Hand Lever

- After brake repairs are complete, adjust parking brake shoes to a diameter of 6.73" (171 mm). Remove ashtray or courtesy light from rear of center console. Pull equalizer output cable (short section of cable between parking brake lever and cable equalizer bracket) to wind up spring (requires 30 lbs. of force or greater). Insert 7/32" Allen wrench into lockout device. See Fig 1. Turn Allen wrench clockwise, do not force. Self adjuster is now reloaded.
- Turn Allen wrench counterclockwise approximately 15 degrees. When self adjuster releases, a loud snap should occur. Continue turning Allen wrench counterclockwise until a detent is felt.
- Cycle parking brake handle several times to allow self adjuster to work. Rear wheels should rotate freely without dragging when parking brake is released. Except LeBaron With Hand Lever
- Raise and support vehicle. Release parking brake. Adjust parking brake shoes to a diameter of 6.73" (171 mm). Loosen parking brake cable adjusting nut until cables are slack. Tighten adjusting nut until slight drag is felt while rotating rear wheels.
- Loosen adjusting nut until rear wheels turn freely. Loosen nut an additional 2 full turns. Apply and release parking brake several times to ensure proper operation.
