Test 30A - Wiper Switch Power Supply Short To Ground

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Eagle Vision, 1994 Dodge Intrepid, 1994 Chrysler New Yorker, 1994 Chrysler LHS, and 1994 Chrysler Concorde. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
  1. Disconnect multifunction switch connector. Connector is located on upper part of steering column, behind trim cover. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of multifunction switch connector terminal No. 3 (Dark Blue wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue wire and replace fuse No. 10. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  2. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between high/low wiper relay (relay No. 10) terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "C" (Violet wire) in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located on left front fender apron. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace high/low wiper relay and fuse No. 10. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, go to next step.
  3. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between on/off wiper relay (relay No. 6) terminals "A" (Dark Blue wire) and "C" (Dark Green/Yellow wire). If resistance is less than 10 ohms, replace on/off wiper relay and fuse No. 10. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace multifunction switch and fuse No. 10.
