Impact Sensors

Three impact sensors are used. Two impact sensors are mounted on left and right side of radiator closure panel. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . The third sensor, called the safing sensor, is located inside ASDM. See Figure . Impact sensors are inertia switches which complete an electrical circuit when a front-end collision creates sufficient "G" force. For air bag to deploy, safing sensor and at least one impact sensor must activate at the same time.
