Turn Signal/Hazard Warning System

  1. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Actuate turn signal lever or hazard warning button. Observe turn signal lights in instrument cluster. If flash rate is very high, check for a turn signal bulb not lit. Replace bulb or repair circuit to that light, as required. Test system operation. If turn indicator does not light, continue to next step.
  2. Remove and inspect fuse (No. 3 and No. 16 in fuse block module). Replace fuse if required.
  3. Remove combination flasher from relay center and replace with a known good unit. Test turn signal and hazard flasher operation. If okay, replace faulty combination flasher. If not okay, remove test flasher and go to next step.
  4. With ignition switch in ON position, check for battery voltage at cavity for flasher terminal J1. See Fig 1 . If voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, repair circuit to ignition switch as required.
  5. With ignition switch in OFF position, check for battery voltage at cavity for flasher terminal J2. If voltage is present, go to next step. If voltage is not present, repair circuit (to fuse block module) as required.
  6. With ignition switch in OFF position, check for continuity between cavity for flasher terminal J5 and ground. If there is continuity, go to next step. If no continuity, repair circuit to ground as necessary.
  7. Locate multifunction switch connector. Refer to the MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH  . Check for continuity between cavity for flasher terminal J3 and cavity No. 13 of multifunction switch connector. See Figure . If the re is continuity, go to next step. If no continuity, repair open circuit as required.
  8. Check for continuity between cavity for flasher terminal J4 and cavity No. 17 of multifunction switch connector. If there is continuity, test multifunction switch. If no continuity, repair open circuit as required.
