Air Bag Disabling

NOTE: BEFORE servicing ANY steering column or air bag component, disconnect and shield negative (ground) battery cable. DO NOT  use any power driven tools while working near or with air bag.
  1. After disconnecting negative battery cable, wait 2 minutes to allow air bag system capacitor to deplete its residual charge.
  2. Remove 4 nuts attaching air bag module from back of steering wheel. Remove air bag module and cruise control switch (if equipped) and disconnect wire feeds. See Fig 1 . To enable air bag, reverse disable procedure.
