Vehicle Speed Sensor & Pinion Gear R & I: Removal

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Disconnect electrical connector from vehicle speed sensor. See Figure .
  2. Remove bolt and adapter retainer. Note location of indexing numbers on adapter in relation to the housing. See Figure .
    NOTE: Indexing numbers on adapter correspond to number of teeth on the pinion gear.
  3. Ensure area around adapter is clean. Remove adapter with vehicle speed sensor, "O" ring and pinion gear. See Figure . Remove bolt, vehicle speed sensor and "O" ring from adapter.
