Cleaning & Inspection

  1. Clean all metal components with solvent and dry with compressed air. Inspect clutch discs for flatness, flaking or glazing. Inspect all clutch plates, pressure plate and reaction plate for flatness or damage at lug area.
  2. Ensure direct clutch components slide freely in direct clutch drum. Replace components if binding exists. Inspect sun gear and bushings for damage. Replace sun gear if bushings are defective.
  3. Inspect planetary gear for damage. Ensure pins for gears on planetary gear are tight and are not damaged. Inspect surface on overrunning clutch hub or overrunning clutch for damage. Replace overrunning clutch as an assembly if damaged.
  4. Inspect inner and pilot bushings for damage. Ensure governor valve and weights slide freely in governor body. Inspect governor support and governor supply tubes for damage. DO NOT  attempt to remove governor supply tubes from governor support. Replace governor support and tubes as an assembly if damaged.
    NOTE: Governor valve weight assembly is made of aluminum for 42RH/46RH models and brass/bronze alloy for 47RH models. These components are not interchangeable. Always install the original type governor components.
  5. Inspect output shaft for damaged in machined or splined areas. Replace damaged components.
