Test 58B - Headlamps Will Not Turn Off

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR  IDENTIFICATION. For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Perform TEST VER-1 after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Ensure ignition switch is in OFF position. Turn headlamp switch to OFF position. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Natural connector. Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If headlamps go off, replace BCM. If headlamps do not go off, go to next step.
  2. Gain access to relay center. Remove low beam headlamp relay. SeeFigure . If headlamps do not go off, go to step 5). If headlamps go off, go to next step.
  3. Put DRB in ohmmeter mode. Measure resistance at relay center terminal No. 3 (Orange/White wire). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace low beam headlamp relay. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave DRB connected and go to next step.
  4. Disconnect left pod switch connector. See Figure . Check, clean and repair connections as needed. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Orange/White wire for short to ground. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace left pod switch.
  5. If headlamps do not go off in step 2), remove fuses No. 17 and 18. See Figure . If both headlamps go off, repair short to voltage in Violet/White wire between headlamp low beam relay and fuses. If headlamps do not go off, repair short to voltage in Violet wire between low beam relay and headlamps.
