Left & Right Impact Sensors: Removal

Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
Impact sensors are mounted on left and right side of radiator closure panel, behind grille opening reinforcement assembly. See Figure . Remove 3 grille mounting screws and lift grille from grille opening reinforcement assembly. See Fig 1 .
Remove turn signals, side markers and headlights. Remove upper and lower retainers at fascia. See Fig 2 . Remove fascia retainers at both front wheelwells. See Fig 3 .

Slide fascia off retainer pegs at side of lower crossmember. Using a small screwdriver, pull up on locating tangs under turn signal mounting area. Remove fascia from lower crossmember. Disconnect impact sensor electrical connector. Remove screws attaching sensor. Remove impact sensor.
