Test Dr-19A - Testing Purge System

NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Connect DRB and adapter to diagnostic connector. Using DRB, actuate purge control solenoid. Listen for purge control solenoid to click. If purge control solenoid does not click, go to next step. If purge control solenoid clicks, inspect purge control vacuum system, and repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-2 . If purge control vacuum system is okay, perform TEST DR-20A.
- Disconnect purge control solenoid connector. Measure voltage at purge control solenoid connector terminal No. 2 (Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Red wire between purge control solenoid and splice, and perform TEST VER-2. If voltage is more than 10 volts, turn ignition off.
- Disconnect Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 18-pin connector. Measure resistance of Black/White wire between ECU 18-pin connector terminal No. 62 and purge control solenoid connector terminal No. 1. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair open circuit in Black/White wire. Perform TEST VER-2.
- If resistance is less than 10 ohms, measure resistance between purge control solenoid connector terminal No. 1 (Black/White wire) and ground. If resistance is more than 10 ohms, replace purge control solenoid. Perform TEST VER-2 . If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/White wire. Perform TEST VER-2.
