Test Dr-12A - Testing Fuel Pump Sense (Code 42)

- Use DRB to erase faults. Start engine and idle for more than one minute. Read faults. If Code 42 is not displayed again, go to step 3). If Code 42 is displayed again, backprobe Electronic Control Unit (ECU) 24-pin connector between terminal No. 13 (Black/Green wire) and ground. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace ECU. Perform TEST VER-2 .
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open circuit in Black/Green wire between ECU 24-pin connector terminal No. 13 and Multi-Point Injection (MPI) control relay. Perform TEST VER-2.
- While monitoring DRB display, wiggle wiring harness between Multi-Point Injection (MPI) control relay and ECU. If Code 42 is not set, perform TEST DR-14A . If Code 42 is set, repair wiring harness where wiggling caused Code 42 to set. Perform TEST VER-2.
