Electrical Circuit

  1. Turn ignition switch to START position and release to ON position. Red BRAKE warning light should come on in START position and go off in ON position (bulb check). If Red BRAKE warning light stays on after 2-3 second bulb check, ensure parking brake is fully released and there are no leaks in hydraulic brake system. If Red BRAKE warning light does not come on, go to next step. If Red BRAKE warning light goes out after 2-3 second bulb check, warning light is operating properly.
  2. Disconnect parking brake switch connector (Gray/Black wire). Turn ignition switch to START position and release to ON position. Red BRAKE warning light should come on in START position and go off in ON position. If Red BRAKE warning light does not come on and go off as specified, check parking brake switch circuit for a short to ground. If parking brake circuit is okay, go to next step.
  3. Locate Red BRAKE warning light switch 2-pin connector on combination valve. Release lock taps and disconnect Red BRAKE warning light 2-pin connector. Connect a jumper wire between connector terminals. Turn ignition switch to START position. Red BRAKE warning light should come on. Remove jumper wire and Red BRAKE warning light should go off. If Red BRAKE warning light does not go on and off as specified, bulb or wiring circuit is defective. Replace bulb or repair wiring as necessary. If Red BRAKE warning light goes on and off as specified, replace Red BRAKE warning light switch.
