Bench Bleeding
- If fluid reservoir and grommets are serviced, or a new master cylinder is to be installed, master cylinder must be bench bled before installation.
- Place master cylinder in a soft-jawed vise. DO NOT tighten vise enough to damage master cylinder. Install bleed tubes in both outlet ports of master cylinder. See Fig 1
.
- Fill reservoir to FULL mark. Use only clean brake fluid. DO NOT reuse old brake fluid. Ensure ends of both bleed tubes are submerged in brake fluid.
- Using a wood dowel, fully apply and release master cylinder piston until no air bubbles exist in brake fluid flow. When all air bubbles are gone from master cylinder, remove bleed tubes and cap outlet ports. Install reservoir cap. Install master cylinder. Bleed master cylinder on vehicle. See ON-VEHICLE BLEEDING
