Test SC-5A - Checking Park/Neutral Position Switch Sense

NOTE: Perform TEST SC-1A - CHECKING SPEED CONTROL OPERATION  before proceeding.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Ensure gear selector is still in Drive. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of park/neutral position sense circuit at PCM connector terminal No. 76. See PCM CONNECTOR WIRE IDENTIFICATION  table. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace PCM. Perform TEST SC-VER - SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION .
    PCM CONNECTOR WIRE IDENTIFICATION

    Application Wire Color
    PCM Terminal No. 76 (Park/Neutral Position Switch Sense Circuit) JA Body Black/White
  2. Disconnect 10-pin transmission range sensor connector. Connector is located on transmission. Go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of park/neutral position sense circuit at PCM connector terminal No. 76. See PCM CONNECTOR WIRE IDENTIFICATION  table. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground on park/neutral position sense circuit. Perform TEST SC-VER - SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, replace transmission range sensor. Perform TEST SC-VER - SPEED CONTROL VERIFICATION .
