Fuel Gauge Inoperative
- With ignition on and engine off, disconnect fuel gauge sending unit connector. If needle goes to "E", go to next step. If needle does not go to "E", go to step 4).
- Connect a jumper wire between terminals "A" and "B" in the body half of the fuel gauge sending unit connector. See Fig 1
. If needle goes to the high end of scale, replace sending unit. If needle does not go to high end of scale, go to next step.

- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable. Check for continuity between terminal "A" in body half of fuel gauge sending unit connector and ground. If there is continuity, go to next step. If no continuity, repair circuit to ground.
- Remove instrument cluster bezel and cluster assembly. Disconnect instrument cluster connector "A". See Figure
.
- Probe cavity B1 of cluster connector "A". Check for continuity to ground. If there is no continuity, go to next step. If there is continuity, repair short circuit as required.
- With probe still in cavity B1 of cluster connector "A", check for continuity to cavity "B" of sending unit body half connector. If there is continuity, replace gauge. If no continuity, repair open circuit as required.
