Intake & Exhaust Manifold: Installation

  1. Install new gasket (53020122). Install exhaust and intake manifolds and loosely install bolts. Install EGR tube between manifolds. Loosely install bolts at exhaust side of EGR tube.
  2. Torque manifold bolts to specification and in proper sequence. See Figure. Tighten EGR tube. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS table at end of this article.
  3. Apply anti-seize to oxygen sensor threads before installation. Install new "O" rings on fuel line connectors before installation. Ensure "click" sound is heard when installing fuel lines. This indicates fuel lines are properly seated. To install remaining components, reverse removal procedures.
NOTE: Remove coolant temperature sensor switch, located in intake manifold, to bleed air from system while filling.
