Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

  1. Drain cooling system. Remove radiator. Discharge A/C system and remove condenser and receiver assembly (if equipped). Mark and remove ignition wires and distributor.
  2. Remove cylinder head. See CYLINDER HEAD in this article. Mark lifter location for reassembly reference. Remove hydraulic lifters. See HYDRAULIC VALVE LIFTERS in this article.
  3. Remove timing chain and sprockets. See TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKET in this article. Remove front bumper and grille as required. Remove camshaft.
