One Gauge Inoperative

  1. OIL PRESSURE SENDER

Turn ignition switch to RUN; separate oil pressure sender connector from oil pressure sender.

Measure voltage at oil pressure sender connector. Tester reading should be 7.5 volts. If not, repair open from gauge package or printed circuit. If 7.5 volts is obtain, replace sender.

  2. COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENDER

Turn ignition switch to RUN; separate coolant temperature sender connector from coolant temperature sender.

Measure voltage at coolant temperature sender connector. Tester reading should be 9 volts. If not repair open from gauge package or printed circuit. If 9 volts is obtain, replace sender.

  3. FUSE GAUGE SENDER

Turn ignition switch to RUN; separate fuel gauge sender connector from fuel gauge sender.

Measure resistance from fuel gauge sender connector terminal A to a clean chassis ground. Resistance should be zero (0) ohms. If not, repair open from fuel gauge sender connector to ground. If zero (0) ohms is register, replace sender.

Measure voltage at fuel gauge connector terminal B. It should be approximately 7.5 volts. If not the case, repair open from gauge package or printed circuit.

  4. PRINTED CIRCUIT

Turn ignition switch to RUN, separate gauges connector from gauge package including voltmeter sender unit.

Measure resistance from gauge package terminal 2 (fuel and coolant temperature gauge) or from terminal 5 (voltmeter and oil pressure gauge battery terminal. Tester should read zero (0) ohms. If other wise obtain, replace/repair printed circuit.

Measure resistance from gauge package terminal 3 to gauge ground terminal. Tester reading should be zero (0). If any resistance is reassured. Replace or repair printed circuit. If zero (0) ohms is register, replace gauge.
