NOTE:
The ring gear and pinion gears are serviced as matched sets only. They are identified by numbers etched on the gears. See Fig 1
. The first two numbers identify the matching set. The second number on the pinion gear is the pinion depth variance. This number indicates the amount (in thousandths of an inch) that gear set varied from the standard setting of 2.095" (53.21 mm) on a 7 9/16" (192 mm) drive axle, or the standard setting of 2.625" (66.67 mm) on an 8 1/2" (216 mm) drive axle. Variance number can be a plus or minus figure.
