Piston Pin: Installation

  1. Assemble connecting rod to piston so that arrow on piston head points toward front of engine. Oil hole in connecting rod will face camshaft side of engine. Use piston pin remover/installer and arbor press to set pin in connecting rod and piston.
  2. Pin should be centered in connecting rod. The piston pin requires a 2000 lb. (907 kg) press fit. If effort required to install pin in connecting rod is questionable, or if rod moves laterally on pin, replace connecting rod.
