Oil Pump & Reaction Shaft Support

NOTE: If removing pump assembly was difficult due to tight fit, expand case in pump area with heat lamp prior to installation.
  1. Install thrust washer on reaction shaft support hub. If input shaft end play was incorrect during disassembly (727 model), replace thrust washer with one of proper thickness. Refer to appropriate THRUST WASHER SPECIFICATIONS  .
  2. Screw 2 pilot studs into pump opening in case. Install new gasket over studs. Place new seal ring in groove on outer flange of pump housing, making sure that seal is not twisted.
  3. Grease seal ring. Install pump assembly into case, tapping lightly with soft mallet (if necessary). Remove pilot studs. Install bolts. Snug down evenly.
  4. Rotate input and output shafts to check for binding. If not, tighten pump attaching bolts. Check shafts again for binding. Adjust both bands.
