Input Shaft End Play
- Measuring end play before disassembly will usually indicate whether change in thrust washer is required to properly adjust end play during reassembly (except when major parts are replaced).
- Attach dial indicator to transmission bellhousing with plunger seated against end of input shaft. Move input shaft in-and-out to obtain reading. Record reading for reassembly reference.
NOTE:
Thrust washer is located between reaction shaft support and front clutch retainer on all 727 transmissions; between input and output shafts on all other models.
