Torque Converter

  1. Torque converter is welded assembly and is not serviceable. If malfunction occurs or if converter becomes contaminated with foreign material, replace.
  2. Input shaft and valve body used with lock-up converter are significantly different from those used in transmissions utilizing conventional converter. Two different types of converters are NOT INTERCHANGEABLE  .
  3. If starter ring gear on lock-up type torque converter requires replacement, complete converter must be replaced. Welding new ring gear onto lock-up converter will damage friction material used in converter.
